What does BT Hub orange light mean?

When you’re the owner of a BT Smart Hub, BT Smart Hub 2 or Ultrafast Smart Hub, a stationary orange light indicates that your hub is functional but isn’t connected to the internet.

What if you have a BT Home Hub 3? If there’s an orange light, it means that your Hub is in power saving mode.

If you have a Hub 4 or 5, look at the other lights in the silver bar at the bottom.

If the B symbol is orange, your Hub is connected to broadband but your account might not be switched on yet.

If it’s the signal icon that’s orange, it means you’ve switched off wireless security for one or both wireless channels.

How do I fix the orange light on my BT router?

The solution for BT Smart Hub, BT Smart Hub 2 and Ultrafast Smart Hub owners is to connect a device to your Hub.

Open a web browser window and follow the on-screen help wizard to get connected again.

For BT Home Hub 3 owners, press the Restart button to exit power saving mode.

Should you not have set your router to power saving mode, there’s an issue with your internet.

In this case, BT suggests their connection issues troubleshooter.

You’ll have to wait until after midnight on the day BT switches on your broadband if you have a BT Home Hub 4 or 5 with an orange B symbol.

Turn on your security in the wireless tab in your Hub Manager if the signal icon is orange,

Your Hub Manager can be accessed by opening a web browser and typing 192.168.1.254 into the address bar.

To make any changes to the hub settings, you’ll need the admin password.

You’ll find it on the back of the Hub if you haven’t updated it.
